Carpeting
Note: Always test for colorfastness when using ZERO TOLERANCE on carpets, upholstery, fabrics and spot cleaning. ZERO TOLERANCE can be used to clean carpeting either as an individual stain spot or the entire room. Some of the common stains ZERO TOLERANCE can remove are: grease, wine, liquor, soda, pet stains, gum, oil, coffee, glue, paint, grape juice, candle wax, some inks, vomit, water stains and hair dye.
To remove stains:
-
Spray a solution of 2 parts ZERO TOLERANCE to 30 parts water onto stain; let it stand for 20 seconds.
-
Cover stain with towel; step on it with a twisting motion.
-
Rub dry with second clean towel.
Repeat if necessary until stain is removed.
To remove chewing gum, candle wax or hard glue:
-
Take a pin or sharp object and punch a hole in object.
-
Dilute ZERO TOLERANCE of 2 oz. to 30 oz. water. Spray on object and let stand for two minutes to emulsify. Use nylon brush to help remove.
To clean carpet without a machine:
-
Vacuum carpet.
-
Dilute ZERO TOLERANCE 1 part to 15 parts water. For badly soiled carpets use 2 parts to 10 parts water.
-
Apply with a soft bristle brush or sponge mop to loosen soil.
-
Wipe badly soiled areas with clean towel if necessary.
-
Vacuum.
To clean carpet with a machine: (rotary brush is best)
-
Vacuum carpet.
-
Dilute ZERO TOLERANCE 2 parts to 10 parts water. Pre-spot heavily soiled areas.
-
Add same mixture to machine. (For best results, lightly spray a 12" x 12" area with garden sprayer before using machine. This gives ZERO TOLERANCE time to break up soil.)
-
Use machine as directed, moving at a slow pace.
To clean carpet with a steam extraction system:
The uses of hot water or “steam extraction” systems have shown considerable growth in the past years. Often referred to as “steam cleaning”, this system does not actually use steam, but rather hot water under pressure. This hot water is immediately vacuumed up, bringing with it loosened and dissolved soil. ZERO TOLERANCE is excellent for this type of cleaning. Dilute ZERO TOLERANCE 2 oz. to 30 oz. water (or 2 oz. to 15 oz. water for heavy soiled areas).
